DAGU ROVER 5 Explorer PCB Product Introduction
The DAGU ROVER 5 Explorer PCB is a professional interface and drive control board specifically designed for the DAGU ROVER 5 robot chassis. It integrates comprehensive motor driving, power management, and sensor interface functions, while fully complying with the EU RoHS environmental protection standards, making it suitable for global market applications, especially export to the European Union. It serves as the core hub connecting the ROVER 5 chassis and a microcontroller (such as Arduino), enabling users to start programming and debugging quickly with complete hardware support.
1. Core Interfaces & Functions
1.1 Motor Driver Interface
Dual FET H-bridge motor drivers, each rated at 4A with built-in current sensing function, ensuring stable and safe motor operation.
Directly compatible with the 2 encoder-equipped DC motors of the ROVER 5 chassis, realizing efficient drive and precise control.
Supports 2-channel quadrature encoder signal reading, facilitating speed and position feedback for the robot chassis.
1.2 Power Management
Servo power supply: 5.4V / 3A output, designed for use with a 7.2V battery input, providing stable power for servos.
Logic power supply: Equipped with a 5V LDO regulator (max 1.5A) with proper heat sinking and a 3.3V LDO regulator (500mA), meeting the power needs of microcontrollers and various low-voltage sensors.
Built-in trickle charge circuit: Specifically designed for NiMh/NiCd batteries, enabling convenient battery charging without additional equipment. Note: This charger is only suitable for NiMh/NiCd batteries; do not use it with LiPo or alkaline batteries.
Two independent power rails (V1, V2): Can be connected to any voltage, each with 4 3-pin servo-compatible interfaces, supporting flexible expansion of servos and sensors.
1.3 Sensor & Expansion Interfaces
Four-corner IR sensors: 4-channel analog/digital IR sensors pre-soldered at the four corners of the PCB, enabling obstacle detection and environmental sensing for the robot chassis.
Servo/sensor interfaces: 8 3-pin servo-compatible interfaces (4 for V1 and 4 for V2), along with a large number of 2.54mm pin headers, compatible with breadboards and custom circuits for easy expansion.
Microcontroller mounting positions: Reserved mounting holes for Arduino Uno/Mega and other popular microcontrollers, facilitating integrated installation and wiring.
Large prototyping area: A dedicated breadboard area is provided, allowing users to solder custom circuits and add personalized functional modules as needed.
1.4 Other Interfaces
Battery power input interface: For connecting external batteries to supply power to the entire PCB and connected devices.
Power switch and LED indicators: Convenient for power control and working status monitoring, helping users quickly identify equipment operation status.
2. RoHS Compliance
The DAGU ROVER 5 Explorer PCB fully complies with the EU RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive, strictly restricting the use of hazardous substances in electronic products. It does not contain lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and other prohibited hazardous substances. This compliance ensures that the product meets the environmental protection requirements of the European Union and global markets, making it applicable to various commercial, educational, and research scenarios with strict environmental standards.
3. Typical Applications
This PCB is widely used in the assembly and development of DAGU ROVER 5 robot chassis, suitable for educational experiments, amateur robot production, small-scale commercial robot development, and research projects. It provides a complete hardware foundation for robot movement control, obstacle detection, and function expansion, helping users reduce development cycles and improve project efficiency. It can be seamlessly matched with Arduino and other microcontrollers to realize rich functional customizations, such as autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, and remote control.
4. Package Includes (Optional)
The standard package of the DAGU ROVER 5 Explorer PCB usually includes the PCB board itself, 2 small breadboards with mounting hardware, hex brass spacers (16mm and 25mm), and a set of jumper wires. Some versions may also include a pan/tilt kit with two miniature servos, depending on the product configuration. Please refer to the actual product package for details.
