RPLIDAR A3M1 360° Laser Range Scanner Product Introduction

The RPLIDAR A3M1 is a next-generation cost-effective 2D 360° laser range scanner developed by SLAMTEC, integrating advanced laser triangulation technology and patented OPT MAG technology to break through the service life limitations of traditional lidar systems, ensuring stable and long-term operation. As an enhanced 2D laser ranging radar, it is capable of performing full 360° omnidirectional laser ranging scans within a 25-meter radius on a 2D plane, generating high-precision 2D point cloud data that can be widely applied in map mapping, robot positioning and navigation, object/environment modeling, and various other practical scenarios.
Compared with other series of RPLIDAR products, the A3M1 delivers more stable performance in long-distance object detection, switching between black and white objects, and detecting objects under direct strong sunlight, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor mapping within its effective range and expanding its application to more consumer and commercial scenarios. It supports two flexible operating modes: Enhanced Mode and Outdoor Mode. In Enhanced Mode, it maximizes the ranging range and sampling rate to achieve optimal indoor mapping results; in Outdoor Mode, it features reliable resistance to ambient light interference, effectively avoiding the "blinding" phenomenon caused by direct sunlight.
With a typical scanning frequency of 10Hz (600rpm), the scanner’s frequency can be freely adjusted between 5Hz and 20Hz according to user needs. At 10Hz scanning frequency, it achieves a 16kHz sampling rate and 0.225° angular resolution, enabling fast and accurate environmental data collection. Equipped with a built-in rotation speed detection and adaptive system, the angular resolution automatically adjusts with the actual rotation frequency, and its simple power supply design reduces overall costs.
Every RPLIDAR A3M1 undergoes strict factory testing to ensure that its laser output power complies with the IEC-60825 Class 1 eye safety standard, making it safe for use around humans and pets. It adopts a TTL UART communication interface with a communication rate of 256000bps and supports previous SDK protocols for easy integration with various systems. Compact in design and easy to install, the RPLIDAR A3M1 is an ideal laser ranging solution for service robots, industrial equipment, home care/cleaning robots, intelligent toys, and other autonomous systems requiring high-precision environmental perception.


TheRPLIDAR A3M1 is the next generation of 360 degree 2D LIDARs. Each RPLIDAR A3can take up to 16000 samples of laser ranging per second thanks to its highrotation speed. The on-board system can perform 2D 360° scans within a range of25 meters in enhanced mode and 20 meters in outdoor mode. Additionally, thegenerated 2D point cloud data can be used in mapping, localization, andobject/environment modeling!


TheRPLIDAR A3M1 consists of a long range scanner core and mechanical poweringparts which makes the core rotate at a high speed. When it functions normally,the scanner will rotate and scan clockwise allowing you to be able to get therange scan data via the communication interface of the RPLIDAR and control thestart, stop and rotating speed of the rotation motor via PWM. The typicalscanning frequency of the RPLIDAR A3 360° Laser Scanner is 10hz (600rpm) with ascanning frequency that can be freely adjusted within the 5-20Hz rangeaccording to the requirements of what you need.


Whatmakes the A3M1 special is its ability to switch between two different modes ofoperation (mentioned earlier): enhanced mode and outdoor mode. In enhancedmode, the RPLIDAR works within the maximum ranging radius and sampling rate tofor optimum mapping performance in indoor environments. While in the outdoormode, the RPLIDAR A3M1 works with a more reliable resistance to daylightinterference, which prevents it from being “blinded” in outdoor environments.


Thanksto the improvements in SLAMTEC hardware operating performance and relatedalgorithm, RPLIDAR A3M1 works well in all kinds of indoor environment andoutdoor environment with direct sunlight. Also, before leaving the factory,every RPLIDAR A3 has passed strict testing to ensure the laser output powermeet the eye safety standards of IEC-60825 Class I.
